Target Systems and Project Portfolios (TSP)

Core competencies:

Particle producing target systems and target-area infrastructure, nuclear engineering for highly radioactive
equipment, facility technical coordination, nuclear dismantling, project management and safety support.

Core responsibilities:

• Manage the design, operation, maintenance, consolidation, upgrade and dismantling of target systems and
  associated infrastructure under Group’s responsibility.
• Provide technical coordination for target areas and facilities assigned to the Group in collaboration with the
  different Sections.
• Develop nuclear-engineering and remote-intervention solutions for highly radioactive equipment and unsealed
  radioactive sources, in collaboration with CERN’s stakeholders.
• Prepare and execute nuclear dismantling campaigns in accelerator and experimental facilities with the relevant
  CERN services.
• Provide Group-wide coordination of safety management, safety files, hazard analyses, risk assessments and
  regulatory compliance activities, ensuring coherent implementation of CERN safety requirements across all
  Group facilities, projects and lifecycle activities.
• Provide mechanical support to ISOLDE users and experiments

Projects and Assigned Responsibilities

Project / programme	Assigned responsibility
IBDRS	Manage and steer the ISOLDE Beam Dumps Replacement and Sustainability project.
HI-ECN3	Design and develop the HI-ECN3 target systems and prepare their future operation and technical coordination.
ISOLDE	Provide technical coordination of primary areas, contribute to the Improvement Programme, support Work Sectors and supervise mechanical support to users and experiments, including the Building 508 workshop.
AD target area	Provide technical coordination and lifecycle support for the target area systems.
n_TOF	Provide technical coordination of the target facility and support Type A experimental activities and Work Sectors, including the management of the unsealed sources.
Nuclear dismantling	Prepare and execute campaigns in CTD, TCC2 and TCC8, and support other CERN-wide nuclear dismantling activities.
Group project and safety support	Maintain safety files and provide project-management support in collaboration with the SY Project Office.
